Hello, my name is Eric Rathbun. I started hiking regularly back in 2005. Since then I have hiked the entire Appalachian Trail, New England 100 Highest, The White Mountains Grid, and all of the trails in the AMC White Mountain Guide (#28th Edition). Upon completing these lists, I wanted to start giving back to the mountains which have proven to be such a fun and rewarding place to visit. I've helped a couple of my friends with trail maintenance on their trails, but I needed something close to home, something in Maine.

Although small, Albany mountain is such a beautiful mountain. In October 2011, I adopted both the Albany Notch Trail and the Albany Mountain Trail. The trails had been orphaned for sometime and because of a low elevation of 1930' the mountain isn't climbed nearly as much as some of the higher peaks. As a result, the trails haven't received the attention they deserve and therefore there is much that needs to be done to get these trails up to WMNF standards. The low elevation of this mountain makes for a shorter winter season than the 4000 footers so that leaves me a much longer season to work on the trail.
