I'm back from a week and a half of hiking in southern Pennsylvania. Time to get back into the White Mountains. Hopefully I can get a couple more Saturday hikes in before the snow. Today I will cross off two more 4,000 footers: South Carter and Middle Carter.
The first few miles up Nineteen Mile Brook Trail and Carter-Dome Trail were a repeat for Snoopy and me. When we got to Zeta pass I was tempted to make an extra 1.2 mile round trip up to Mt Hight because it is so beautiful up there, but because I wasn't sure what was ahead, I decided to head north.

South Carter Mountain is covered with trees and there were no views that I could see. There is a sign at the top marking the summit but I forgot to take a picture of it. It seems I couldn't go fast enough for Snoopy today. He keeps having to wait for me.

The summit of Middle Carter was similar to South Carter with no scenic views. I did remember to take a picture of the sign this time.

A little bit south of Middle Carter there is a great view of the Presidential Range. It is only October 22 and the mountains are already snow covered.

I made my way to the intersection with the North-Carter Trail.

Snoopy and I then made the long 4.3 mile descent down to Route 16. We then had approximately a two mile walk down Route 16 back to the truck.
